Day 2
The second day of the City of Plymouth saw even more success for the team, showing that the swimmers were back to fitness after the summer break. The Farmer brothers came out in force and took two major medals in the 100m breaststroke, both winning silver in their respective age groups, Chris went on to race in the championship final and take the bronze position overall.
Chris also qualified for the 100m IM championship final, winning silver in both this and his age group, whilst Adam also had success at this event taking the bronze medal. James Senior was the gold medalist in the 100m breaststroke with a stunning performance and went on to finish second in the gruelling 400IM as well as another silver medal in the 100 IM. Jack Northmore finished in silver medal position in both the 400IM and 100 IM and Ben Douglass took two bronze medals in the 400mIM and 200m backstroke. James Boyne took a bronze medal in 100m breaststroke and Quinn Jones gained the gold medal in the 200m backstroke with a convincing win. Reid Jones also was a gold medal winner with his performance in the 100m IM and Travis Bramley finished second in his age group in the 200m backstroke.
The girls team did not let their side down with many outstanding performances. Charlotte Evans won her age group in the 100m backstroke and finished the championship final in third position. Jasmin Morgan took another gold medal in the 400m freestyle and finished her 200m backstroke in silver. Harriet Tuck racing only a week after her channel swim found the adjustment to pool swimming a challenge but was successful in many events including a silver medal in the 200m backstroke, bronze in the 400m freestyle and bronze also in the 100m back event. Laura Millington took a well earned bronze medal in the 400m freestyle and Rebecca Chamberlain finished in the bronze position also in her 200m backstroke. Rebecca and Zara Smith then competed in the 100m butterfly and backstroke events finishing second and third in the 100m backstroke respectively and then reversing these positions in the fly event. Last but not least, Sally Carter knocked an impressive 6 seconds off her 200m backstroke time taking the silver medal and went on to take two more silver medals in the 400m freestyle and 100m backstroke and qualifying for the championship final in the 100m backstroke. It was a great start to the season for the club and we look forward to hearing the successes of the year to come!
