This year the club will be taking a short break from training over the August Bank Holiday weekend. This means that there will be no sessions running on Saturday 28th, Sunday 29th and Monday 30th August. All other sessions will be running as usual unless notified via the notice boards and website.

Learn to Swim will also be taking a well earned break, so there will be no Saturday morning lessons on the 28th August.

Congratulations to Ella,Georgia and Ellie and Emily who raised £70 on Saturday selling cakes at the Learn to Swim session. The 200 cakes went down extremely well - especially with the coaches and teachers - I think they'd like it if you could do the same next week! The money raised will go to the fund for helping to send Amy  to Taiwan for the World Championships in September.

Ellie McCoy, Ella Windle and Jack Northmore swam the length of the Blue Mile in both the Tinside Lido and Plymouth Sound. These swimmers deserve a pat on the back for their effort which showed determination and commitment. If you sponsored the swimmers please could you give any money to their parents as soon as possible, if you did not sponsor them but would like to give a donation, it is not too late!! The swimmers were raising money to support Amy Croker's bid at the Down's Syndrome World Championships in Taiwan. The very best of luck to Amy, we will all be wishing you a successful championship.

Dinnaton entered a large team of swimmers including Ben Douglass, Travis Bramley, Lauren Hammond, Maisie Marles, Rebecca Chamberlain, Eleanor McCoy, Taylor Wynn, Emilia Long, Chloe Thompson, Rebecca Johns, Tait Marles, Charlotte Stemp and Faye Hammond. All of the swimmers exceeded expectations and swam with confidence and developing talent.  Ellie McCoy swam a powerful 200m freestyle finishing more than 10 seconds in front of all her 26 competitors, gaining a well earned gold medal. She went on to take another two golds in the 200m breaststroke and 400m freestyle as well as a silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 100m IM.  A spirited swim from Ben Douglass gave him the edge in the 100m backstroke finishing in first position., he continued his winning streak in the 400m freestyle an incredible 13 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. Ben finished both the 200m backstroke and 200m freestyle in the silver medal position. Chloe Thompson was the winner of the 400m freestyle event in her age group finishing in a time of 5.17.64, she also took gold in the 100m freestyle and 100m IM events as well. She gained silver in the 200m freestyle and 200m IM and bronze in both the 200m and 100m backstroke.

Tait Marles stormed home in the 800m freestyle to take an impressive gold medal. She continued her endurance swimming with the 400m freestyle and finished in the bronze medal position. Faye Hammond gave some great performances finishing just outside the medals in fourth position in both the 200m and 800m freestyle, she was rewarded with a bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke. Taylor Wynn took  the gold medal in the 100m IM, silver in the 200m breaststroke and 200m IM and bronze in the 200m freestyle, a fantastic achievement. Travis Bramley gained silver medal in the 200m butterfly and 400m freestyle and bronze in the 200m backstroke, 100m IM, 200m breaststroke and 200m IM. Ellie McCoy finished first in the BAGCAT scores with Taylor Wynn and Travis Bramley both in third position overall. These stunning performances by the Dinnaton team go to show how well the club is developing young swimmers. Well done to all who took part!

Harriet Tuck demonstrated her outstanding endurance and distance swimming ability by taking the title of regional open water champion at the 5km Regional Open Water swim at Weymouth on 4th July. This was Harriet's first open water event since her success at the Plymouth Breakwater Swim last summer. The conditions were not ideal for the swim and Harriet battled against strong wind and tides to finish first in her age group. She completed the course in a time of just 1 hour 22 minutes. Congratulations Harriet!

Harriet will be competing in the Plymouth Breakwater again this summer and will be a tough competitor to beat. Please come along to the Hoe to watch Harriet swim at 5.30pm on Sunday 25th July. Bring a picnic or barbecue and the rest of the family and enjoy an evening on the hoe with the rest of the club (weather permitting!)
