This open meet is licensed at Level 1 and attracts many of the top swimmers in the country. A team of 9 dinnaton swimmers travelled to Cardiff for the event which lasted 3 days. The meet was well organised and our entries were very effectively mananged by Tracey Bunyard our competition secretary, much thanks to Tracey for all her hard work. Ben Gittens was the overall star of the competition winning an amazing 4 gold medals in the 100m freestyle, 200m breaststroke, 200m IM and 200m backstroke as well as a silver medal in the 200m freestyle, this is an incredible achievement for a swimmer at such a high level meet. Megan Bowen gave some great performances to take silvers in the 200m freestyle and 800m freestyle and a bronze in the 400m freestyle. David Hammond qualified for the 200m IM final and achieved a time in the 200m backstroke which would have given him national qualification if it were a couple of days sooner. Well done David, definitely one to watch for next year!

Many of the other members of the team which included Chris Farmer, Ryan Moreno-Chamorro, Callum Clay, Sally Carter, Roisin Vosper and Charlotte Evans achieved personal best times in this challenging and extremely competitive field. Special thanks to Alan Rooker who supported the team through the ups and downs of the full 3 day event!

Dinnaton swimmer Amy Croker has qualified for the 5th Down Syndrome World Championships, which this year will be held in Taiwan. We are very proud of her achievement and as a club want to support Amy and her family to get to Taiwan. Three of Dinnaton’s younger swimmers have decided to raise money to assist Amy by entering ‘The Blue Mile’ open water swim. Jack Northmore (11), Ella Windle (9) & Ellie McCoy (10) will undertake this 1 mile sea swim across Plymouth sound and would appreciate your assistance in either a small donation or sponsoring them. If you could be there on the day (3rd July) to cheer them on as well, that would be even better! Thank you

If you wish to sponsor Jack, Ella and Eliie please pledge your donation through the contact us link.
