After achieving a stunning number of national qualifying times, Megan Bowen made the journey to Sheffield for the British Gas National age group championships. As this was her first time at the nationals it was even more impressive that she took the bronze medal in the 1500m which was her very first event at the pool. Despite concerns over fitness after some illness recently, Megan swam with such determination and competitiveness that she improved her personal best time by a massive 25 seconds. Although she finished in third position with a time of 18.03.23, she only missed out on the gold and silver medals by less than a second. We await the rest of the championships with interest and excitement.
On day three of the championships Megan swam a well paced race to take another bronze medal in the 800m freestyle in an incredible time of 9.28.24, this was a personal best time by 6 seconds. She also reached the finals of the 200m freestyle, finishing in a improved time of 2.13.05. Her Dinnaton teammates are very proud to have a double medallist at the national championships returning home in glory!
